Food in Chicago
Dining out in the US is an experience many restaurants around the world mimics. However, in Chicago, you will find not only the best food trucks and pop-ups, you will also experience the best deep-dish pizzas on earth.
Pequod’s Pizza
Location: Morton’s Grove and Lincoln Park
With a substantial crust and generous selection of toppings, you can’t go wrong with any combination of ingredients. The pan pizza has a “halo,” made from sprinkling cheese edge-to-edge and baking it until it’s crisp and brown. Our favorite part of this pie is the sauce—refreshingly bright and undoctored, it tastes like fresh tomatoes.
Bad Hunter
Location: 802 W Randolph Street
This veggie-focused restaurant from the people behind Trenchermen and Sportsman’s Club brings one of the most creative concepts of the year to Randolph Row. Carnivores can eat well here too, but vegetables, conceptualized and prepared in unique and fulfilling ways, are the stars inside a greenhouse-esque space in the West Loop.
Burt’s Place
Location: 8541 Ferris Ave, Morton Grove
Pan pizza legend Burt Katz passed away about a year ago but his esteemed near-suburban restaurant is back under new ownership after a 19-month closure. The jury is still out over whether the product is comparable to the original, but the buzz and crowds are without question. Make sure to call ahead for a table or take out.
Nightlife in Chicago: Harry Caray’s Tavern

Family-friendly Chicago sports-themed bar & grill with patio seating serving American standards situated near the main entrance to Navy Pier, Harry’s provides easy access for guests arriving by tour bus, trolley, tax or car.
