Museum Negeri Propinsi Bali

The grounds and architecture are quite charming, and the museum is housed in four separate pavilions. The main pavilion has a great collection including ancient stone, bronze and wooden artifact. The southern pavilion houses many textiles, the northern pavilion concentrates on the history of Balinese performance art, and the central pavilion is devoted to Balinese Hinduism and ritual.

Established in the 14th century, at the time the Majapahit arrived from Java, this temple was damaged in a 1917 earthquake and has been heavily restored since. The oldest structures are at the back of the temple, but the most interesting features are the large statues of Garuda and the giant Batara Bayu.

Denpasar occupies a large geographic area with many small local warungs. The most famous area is Jl. Tueku Umar, which is lined with restaurants and warungs serving varieties of food from all over Indonesia.

Ramayana Shopping Mall has a large food court on the top floor serving fast food versions of Indonesian favourites.

For nightlife Benzigo and New Dewata are the best places

Denpasar has some great local markets, some which are open at night. Pasar Badung is open at night in part, and other markets which are known as ‘night markets’ are Kereneng Night Market, located off of Jl. Hayam Wuruk. Great place for a local night time snack. There is also a night market on Jl. Diponegoro.
